The village people

The village people

On a trip to Greece, going beyond the Olymp Mount we visited a Roma settlement for some social activities. In this location I took portraits of most youngers of the village, some of its main families. The beloved children were really up to a photoshoot.

Nothing fancy, nothing, planned. As a memory present for them; Just at the center of the small village I made portraits of the people, one after another, between laughter and jokes. Enjoy with me this sort of spontaneous photoshoot!

Other than that-the business with big Jack-these kids were a joy. They were very friendly and exited to have us around and play, have time together! And let me tell you, they were really looking forward to be taken pictures, no shyness! My respects.

Something I particularly aimed as to make some family portraits, a photo where those that belong together would get to somehow celebrate their unity-celebrate family!- by participating into making a memory for posterity.

That was fun, but it was less easy to achieve, since some family member were a bit afraid of the experience. But I’m glad for those few ones that got to step out for it-and left with gladness and laughter.

It’s interesting how often people would not feel qualified for a portrait, especially if they weren’t prepared for it. Here people didn’t have time to think much about it. Besides, there wasn’t time to change clothes or fix their makeup. It is as it was. And with a bit of courage and joking, the participants could enjoy the process and have a nice memory that I hope will build up in confidence and appreciation in the future.
